One Main

One Main is an office refurbishment that relentlessly deploys numeric command machining of sustainable plywood to evidence the versatility and efficiency available via CAD-CAM design-build processes. The project displaces the combinatorial logic of ready-made components typical of late-industrial process for a seamless and non-standard protocol of customized fabrication. A formal aesthetic emerges from these processes, imbuing the design with a curvilinear continuity at a detail and spatial level.

The Future of Us

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) Advanced Architecture Laboratory (AAL) was commissioned to design this large-scale building envelope for The Future of Us exhibition in late 2014. Manshausen Island Resort

The resort off the coast in Northern Norway is situated in an impressive natural scenery, which inspired the conceptual design of the cabins to provide a welcome shelter from the harsh climate, while the cantilevered glass structure gives a feeling of floating on the sea. The cabins where carefully placed to provide individual privacy while leaving the existing landscape untouched.

The project encompasses modern and traditional alpine architecture, marrying each type into one cohesive form. The strong use of local materials grounds the house onto the site merging it with the landscape. Each material has its own unique texture to match the earthy colors and natural surroundings. The house was constructed according to high energy efficiency standards.

Loyly

With Loyly Helsinki offers foreign visitors a public sauna experience, a must when visiting Finland. The building was designed slim and elongated so as not to cut the narrow park. The volume is kept as low as possible so that it doesn't block views from the future residential blocks. The sauna is developed into an easy-going, faceted construction that is more part of the park than a conventional building. When the wooden building turns gray, it will become more like a rock on the shoreline. The project was first fully FSC-certified building in F inland and second in Scandinavia.
