Il Pausa House

Il Pausa House is a private residence built in Jakarta, Indonesia. The design uses a parametric system to define both the geometry and the structure. Sculptural interventions on the facade create tension between contrasting elements, while the interior offers fluid transitions between spaces in horizontal and vertical directions. The size and position of the facade openings follow a detailed solar study, view axes and occupant height, so natural light is spread evenly inside. The entrance is set above street level and welcomes visitors on arrival.

Guangzhou Julong Bay

Guangzhou Julong Bay is a city planning exhibition center created from four brick warehouses built in the 1950s on the west bank of the Pearl River. The original structures and materials were retained as far as possible, and customized imitation clay bricks were used in the new parts. A large span steel frame with a sloping glass curtain wall covers the parallel halls and joins them into one flexible interior. The triangular roof follows the angle of the old sloping ceilings. The steel frame extends to the ground on both sides, forming a corridor open to the riverside landscape.

Circle

The Circle is an international school in Hefei Airport New Area, China. The school includes a kindergarten, a primary school and a middle school, with ninety classes across a building area of 40,000 square meters. In response to the park and lake view to the west and the oval shape of the site, the building opens toward the park in an embracing gesture. School life is arranged around a central sports field, so most rooms gain a wide view. The kindergarten stands as a separate building. Highly modular construction limits the number of module types and shortens building time.

Tension Instrument

The project is based on the study of architecture and music. The design focuses on how to take inspiration from intangible music and present it in tangible architectural space. The design ultimately combines the two through "tension", a force that is prevalent in both architecture and music. The concert hall is an orchestration of walls, balconies, and acoustic panels, which are developed from a unique architectural prototype by different scales and tectonics. The dramatic contrast of old and new creates a new cultural landmark for Prague.

Shenzhen Financial Culture Center

Shenzhen Financial Culture Center is a public building in Shenzhen, China. The building is composed of two rhombus shapes inspired by the concept of golden stacked mountains. A curtain wall of single-layered tensile glass spans 65 meters in width and 38 meters in height and forms a viewing platform toward the public plaza. A sheltered corridor below ground connects several subway lines.

RO54

RO54 is a single-family house built on a hillside site in Los Angeles. The house uses a split-level layout with staggered floor plates arranged around a central void. Central bridging stairs bring sunlight and visual connection to the deepest level, which reduces the physical and psychological distance between rooms. The outer shell was CNC milled from a digital design and follows streamlined automotive forms. A 16 foot cantilever on the second floor forms an entrance canopy. Open floor plans allow furniture to be rearranged.
