Mountain Cabin
Mountain Cabin is a guest house in Luodian County, Guizhou Province, China. The cabin is designed to consume almost no external energy. The curved roof carries thirty-six flexible solar panels that are attached directly to the surface and weigh 3.5 kilograms per square metre. The panels generate 8 kilowatts, and surplus power is stored in batteries inside the building. A rainwater collection and filtration system supplies water for daily use. A large glass wall in the centre opens the interior to the mountain landscape. Smooth curves and a minimalist form follow function.
