Global Hub Square
Global Hub Square is an office building complex set in a forest on Awaji Island, Japan. The project moved a Tokyo office to a quiet natural site surrounded by fresh air and sea breeze. Large windows bring sunlight and wind into the interior and open the rooms to the landscape. A cafeteria serves healthy meals made with local food to both employees and island residents. The architecture recalls a temple through a series of graceful arches and a large central staircase. The total floor area is 2257 square meters.
Global Hub Square Offices by Satoshi Itasaka was recognized as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Global Hub Square Offices received the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize which celebrates outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
