A Monument Without Words
A Monument Without Words is a cultural and visitor centre located on the Cuisuba grassland in Guizhou, China. The centre stands on a mountain plateau at an altitude of nearly 2,000 metres, surrounded by highland meadows and mountains. The building form recalls a traditional altar of the Yi people, the local indigenous community, and a system of skylights creates a dialogue with the sky. The structure is built with a concrete frame and uses local sandstone, concrete and stained glass. The three floors serve both visitors and the local community.
A Monument Without Words Exhibition Center by Haobo Wei & Jingsong Xie has been featured as an outstanding representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. A Monument Without Words Exhibition Center received the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition that rewards exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
