Jobcenter Berlin
Jobcenter Berlin is an administration building in Berlin, Germany, created by converting the Bornemann High-rise, a 1960s extension of the town hall. The listed building was updated to current structural, energy and fire protection standards, and the floor plans were adapted to the needs of the new users. The washed concrete slabs and window elements were renewed following the original design, in agreement with the monument protection authority. Exposed masonry walls in the hallways were repaired and cleaned. A new color concept guides the public areas and corridors.
Jobcenter Berlin Administration Building by Elisabeth Rüthnick was recognized as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Jobcenter Berlin Administration Building received the Iron A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition which rewards superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
