Qian'nan Fire Station
Qian'nan Fire Station is a fire and rescue building set in a mountainous area of karst peaks in Guizhou, China. The design follows the topography of the site, which is bordered by hills on three sides. Two grids of order arrange the plan into unit groups that form continuous courtyards, recalling the traditional settlements of the region. Offices, training areas and logistics spaces are joined in one complex. Red split brick and white stone express the professional character of fire and rescue, while skylights bring daylight into the interior.
Qian'nan Fire Station Training Center by Haobo Wei & Jingsong Xie was featured as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Qian'nan Fire Station Training Center won the Iron A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize which rewards outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
