MGY Base
MGY Base is an office building for an apparel brand in Tokyo, Japan. The design follows the idea of a secret base where people want to gather. The main floor is 6 metres high, and a large glass facade gives the impression of a semi-outdoor space. Wire mesh in the loft, industrial style lighting, and fixtures made of iron and scaffolding support the same theme. The building has a reinforced concrete structure and a total floor area of 124 square metres. The open interior is intended to encourage communication and comfortable work.
MGY Base Office by Eitaro Satake was identified as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. MGY Base Office earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design award that recognizes excellent design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
