TCNK
TCNK is a car showroom and garage located in Niigata prefecture, Japan. The building stands at the entrance of a new development area and is intended as a landmark. TCNK combines a glass showroom with two upper volumes that appear to float above the ground. A five meter cantilever and a suspension structure make the volumes seem to rest on a single line of columns. The final design was selected from more than ten proposals prepared after a study of the site. Construction started in November 2006 and was completed in October 2009.
TCNK Car Showroom and Garage by Tetsuo Kawabe was highlighted as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. TCNK Car Showroom and Garage was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award which honors excellent design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
